You need some flexible material to go between the forefoot and the shoe, but are getting out of the way of normal action of the foot. While standing up is not the easiest part of my workout routine and should not be considered the gold standard, I feel I am pretty consistent in my technique. I like the idea of W.D.s because I find having the shoe off easier at times more tiring sometimes, but never more comfortable. the forefoot on the gann.
